PointBox Data Protection Policy
Who is collecting the data?
GeoBit Consulting S.L. CIF B24630709, the developer and maintainer of PointBox, is also the agent that manages and stores your data. You can contact us at the following e-mail or sending a postal card to our physical address at PeƱalba 10, Bajo - 24700 - Astorga, Spain.
How will the information be used?
We collect your personal information to provide you a better service. For instance, we need your email in order to identify you when you access to your account. We will send you transactional email related to your account. This is mandatory in order to use our services and it includes things like reset your password or validate your account. Besides transactional email, you can also receive notifications related to your clouds such as a new comment, a star from other user, or changes in the status of the conversion process. These emails are optional, and you can disable them in your personal profile page whenever you want. Eventually, we may contact you in case of detecting any abuse of the Terms of Service or in regard of any issue in the service that may affect you.
We also store your personal preferences like the clouds you have starred or the users you follow. Other data, such as your profile picture, address or company name are intended only for a better dissemination and showcasing of your work.
When do we acquire your consent?
You agree with this policy when you register at PointBox. However, you are free to cancel your account and remove all your data. This option is available on the same page where you edit your personal profile.
If you register your account with another service provider like Google, we only have access to granted information. We only require your name and email address in order to identify your personal account in PointBox.
What data is being collected?
We also collect information about your interactions with our service. This information includes the date and time in which you access to the service and the IP address from which you are connected. We do not use this information for commercial purposes but for providing assistance just in case that anything goes wrong. This data is removed periodically every three months.
We also use cookies (a little chunk of information saved in your browser) to save your session preferences and settings like the "remember me" option at the login page. This information is encrypted and it is intended to provide a better user experience.
How data is protected?
Your personal data is encrypted in our database. Your points clouds are stored unencrypted on our servers but we manage the access to them in order to forbid unauthorized accesses.
Will the data be shared with any third parties?
No. We do not share your information with third parties. Your data is also saved in our own infrastructure so we also manage the physical access to them.
We would only share your data (always encrypted) in the following situations:

Service providers: we externalize some functions to third-party service providers in the European Union and the United States of America. For example, we use Stripe for processing payments and Google for sending emails. In this way, we do not store your payment data or credit card number (this is securely saved in Stripe) but we manage notifications about your transactions and subscriptions (if any).

Law enforcement: we only would share your information under the request of a bigger authority. We will always obey the local normative and laws such that we are completely at their disposal to provide information that can help to detect frauds or security issues of any matter.

Acquisition or enterprise-level operations: if PointBox would be acquired by another enterprise your data will be transferred to the new owner. It will be only to not bother you with the interruption of the service.

Non-personal data: we share with the rest of the PointBox visitors non-personal information like the number of total visits of a cloud or the counter of likes. This information is anonymous and the relation with the visitor is never stored, i.e. association between the visitor and the cloud is not persistent.
How long will the data be stored for?
Your information is saved during the time you contnue to use our services. Server logs with access information are only saved for three months.
If you delete your account we will completely erase your information (profile, clouds, comments, settings, and annotations). We will send you a confirmation email once the process is complete.
What rights does the data subject have?
Your data is and will always be yours. You can cancel your account and delete your data anytime on the page with your personal profile. In this page, you can also modify or download the information we have about you. You can even modify your preferences by editing the cookies installed in your browser (more information here).
You can retrieve the information that PointBox stores about you. You only have to contact us with your username and email address and we will send you a link to download your data in the next 30 days.
How can the data subject raise a claim?
Any legal claim about PointBox can be issued to the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
Is the policy subject to changes?
We adopt this policy according to the current legislation so it is likely that any change could happen. The latest version will always be available on this page. We would send you a notification if the changes were so significant that they would require your tacit consent.
If you continue using PoinBox after the policy changes, we assume that you agree with the changes.
